Laisné dit Laliberté Genealogy
Discovering our American, Canadian and European Ancestors

Welcome! This website is based on my database of my direct family, Laliberté, Lévesque and Roy being my grandparents, but also includes parts of my wife's Smith family. The Laliberté and Lévesque ascending lines are 100% complete and all lines have been traced back to the pioneer who emigrated to New France from the mother country of France, mostly during the period of 1630-1700. The primary goal is to list the descendants of Bernard Laisné dit Laliberté who emigrated from Brittany in 1677 to New France. He established this branch of Laliberté families which have since moved throughout the world. This project is not yet complete and is ongoing as time permits. There are many other pioneers who changed their name to Laliberte and are not related to our family. I will discuss them as well on this website. I have been doing genealogy for over 45 years, but it has only been in the last 20 or so that technology has revolutionized the research process. Once I retired it became my new full time job with great benefits, but alas little financial reward. I am sure there are errors in the data and that is all my fault. Not all records have been completely sourced and that is ongoing. If you have any better data for me I would appreciate it if you contact me so that I can correct any errors. While birth, death and marriage dates and locations are important parts of genealogy I would like this website to showcase more of the lives of our ancestors. To that end I will try and create histories that tell a story. Post videos that highlight events of the family. I have some audio recordings so you can hear their voices. And most importantly I have lots of photos to share. I plan to arrange them in albums with a common theme. Some information will be in French and time permitting I will try to generate an English transcript for those of you who have forgotten your French! All of this will take some time so what you see today is what I have been able to accomplish thus far. It is a good starting point with a lot of information. Do check back to see what is new. If a major section is added I will contact everyone who has registered via an email update notice. Finally I must thank my brother Bruce as he guided me through the process of creating a website. Without his valuable computer knowledge this site would not exist. Therefore if it crashes on you please contact him as I will not be able to help!
